NHL's Department of Player Safety Issues First Discipline of 2023 Stanley Cup Final

Breaking News: Colorado's Kadri Suspended for Game 3

Disciplinary Action Stems from Collision with St. Louis' Faulk

The NHL's Department of Player Safety has announced the first disciplinary action of the 2023 Stanley Cup Final. Colorado Avalanche forward Nazem Kadri has been suspended for Game 3 after a collision with St. Louis Blues defenseman Justin Faulk in Game 2.

The incident occurred late in the second period of Game 2, with Kadri delivering a check to Faulk along the boards. Faulk was knocked out of the game and did not return. The Department of Player Safety ruled that Kadri's hit was "late and high," and that he made "direct contact with Faulk's head."

Kadri's suspension will be a significant blow to the Avalanche, who are already without star center Nathan MacKinnon due to injury. The Avalanche have a 1-1 series lead over the Blues, and Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday night in Denver.

The NHL's Department of Player Safety has been cracking down on dangerous hits in recent years, and the suspension of Kadri is a reminder that the league is taking player safety seriously. The Avalanche will now have to adjust their lineup and find a way to replace Kadri in Game 3.
